David Weekes - Paintings and Drawings
My interests as an artist are varied, encompassing urban landscape, portraiture and still life. My work is predominately representative and I work in a variety of painting and drawing media. The starting point is always a careful observation of the subject. However, at some stage the demands of the picture and a desire to explore and push the materials start to assert themselves, such that the demands of representation and the formal requirements of the work have to be held in balance. The end result is hopefully an honest and individual response to what is in front of me.
