Jenny Dennison White - Prints, Textiles and Leatherwork
Working with textiles has always been part of my life, from everyday necessities such as dressmaking, upholstery and soft furnishings to decorative work as in patchwork and quilting. From this background I ventured into papermaking in both 2D and 3D forms and into printing, specialising in monoprints. Surface design has always been part of my functional and decorative work culminating in several years of silver smithing , as well as ongoing jewellery making using beads, wire and textiles. I use photography to source textures and forms from the natural and urban landscape.
In the last few years I have developed an interest in leather and returned to textiles in general, making bags, purses, phone and laptop cases and knitting and crocheting scarves, snoods and pulse warmers. My work consists of mainly functional, unique pieces. Commissions are undertaken.
I regularly exhibit in SE London and my work is in private collections in the UK, Eire, Switzerland, Germany and Canada.
