Eda GiraypaintingArtist statement: It is said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, and such, art making is a space for me to think about and express thoughts and feelings that are difficult to put down in words. Art making helps me connect to my many intersecting identities as artist, mental health practitioner, partner, daughter and beyond. I make art to make time for myself, find mindfulness and process things that are happening around me and within me. Hence, my art making values the process, rather than the end product. Nonetheless, the end product is significant, and every action, form and colour that appears on it, carries within it strong connections to my psyche at that particular time in my life. I like to think that when you buy my art, you become part of this journey, and my artworks continuos process that is dynamic and full of life.
Each carry meaning and emotion that is influenced by my mood and events in my life, however you as the viewer and new owner will enrich this, and the art will find new meaning and evolve as it makes it’s way, and settles into, it’s new home. -Like what you see, but not quite found the right fit?
